Initially manager of brother Phil until the two fell out. He then set up a commercial rock music photo library, The Michael Ochs Archives.


OCHS, PHIL.

Born 19th December 1940 in El Paso, Texas. Committed suicide 8th April 1976.

Member of The Sundowners, 1962-63.
Wrote for a variety of artists incluing Joan Baez before being signed yo a solo deal by Elektra Records. His work was intensely journalistic with an ironic twist and often controversial. In 1970 he was dropped by Elektra and went into virtual retirement. Booze and an unstable mental condition got the better of him after he was robbed and injured during a trip to Chile. He took his own life by hanging himself.

Born Odetta Holmes, 31st December 1930 in Birmingham, Alabama.
Vocals.
In 1949 got a job in the chorus of a touring production of "Finian's Rainbow". Started working in Blues clubs across America during the fifties. Was signed by manager Albert Grossman in 1956 and soon became one of the best known instigators of the sixties folk boom.
Also had a career as a stage and screen actress during the fifties and sixties. Married Louisiana Red in 1977 - her third husband.
