Do you own a rock classic?

WHATEVER happened to John Lennon's Mercedes-Benz 600 Pullman limousine or the VW Beetle on the cover of Abbey Road?

Roy Deane, whose company Rockmine Archives has a huge collection of information and memorabilia on the rock industry, wants to compile a register of cars once owned or used by pop groups and their members.

Roy told us: "There are film companies and fans' conventions who find rock stars' cars the next best things to the stars themselves. we want to put them in touch with the owners of stars' cars. We can promise any owner we'll carefully scrutinise any request for their car. "

The Rockmine archive doesn't charge or pay for information but it will take a small commission if car owners receive any fees for lending cars to TV companies and fans' conventions.

Roy added: "A lot of stars' cars have been auctioned and we don't know where they've gone. One car we'd love to trace is the 1923 Model T nicknamed the Boston Strangler, which was customised by former Yardbirds' guitarist Jeff Beck and fitted with a 5-litre V8. "

The ultimate collection of rockstars' cars is undoubtedly with Pink Floyd's drummer, Nick Mason. His collection of classics features Ferrari (including a 250 GT0), Maserati and Bugatti road cars and grand prix cars from 1901 to the present day.

Cars owned by other famous rockers include:

John Entwistle, 1975 Rolls-Royce Silver Shadow estate; George Harrison, 1970 Mercedes 300 SEL; John Lennon, 1970 Mercedes 600 Pullman Limousine; Ringo Starr, 1971 Mercedes 280 SE/1966 Kadford Mini Cooper S; Mick Jagger, 1964 Ford Galaxie, Keith Richards, 1950 Pontiac Silver Streak convertible; Bill Wyman, 1971 Citroen SM; Robert Plant, 1959 Chrysler Crown Imperial; ZZ Top, 1933 Ford Coupe Eliminator; Elvis Presley, 1959 Cadillac Fleetwood; Tommy Steele,1964 Mercedes 230SL.
